Baseball/ Softball 2019 Season

Brighton Athletic Association

It's that time of year again! The BAA is excited to offer baseball/softball once again for the 2019 season. This year we will be trying something new. As some of you may have heard, there is a new league called the Riverbend Baseball Softball League which we have accepted an invitation to play in. This League will consist of Godfrey (Glazebrook Park), Alton (Gordon Moore), Jerseyville (Jerseyville Parks), & Brighton (Betsey Ann & Schneider Parks). Kid Pitch 10U, 12U, & 14U will play at all of the mentioned fields while our T-Ball & Pitching Machine teams will only play at Gordon Moore through Alton Parks playing only Alton teams. All age divisions including T-Ball & Pitching Machine will still sign up and practice in Brighton as usual but our game travel times will be greatly reduced among other highlighted items below.

What does this mean to us?
- Less drive time to games
- The scheduled season will mirror that of CISL. Games begin the week of May 20th with tournaments starting around the first week of July)
- Designated nights for each division so you always know when your child is playing
- $55 resident (SW School District includes Shipman & Medora) / $60.00 non-resident regular season flat rate signups with no ransom (2/1-3/31)
- $5.00 late fee (4/1-4/15). Based on availability
- 10 regular season games with additional end of year tournament games. Although there are less games than what we are typically use to, this will allow teams the opportunity to hold more practices to develop the players rather than just having games through the week.
- Age divisions mirror CISL's as well as very similar rules (copies of the rules will be given to all coaches at their coaches meetings).
- Possible mid-season tournament for Brighton teams wanting to pick up some extra games hosted by the BAA.
- We will still be hiring umpires and concession stand workers as in past years.

Signups:
In person signup dates will again be on February 1st & March 1st from 10am-2pm at the Brighton Municipal Building. Online signup will once again be available anytime through Blue Sombrero at https://tshq.bluesombrero.com/brightonath. Everyone who signed up last year should already have an account that we either created for you (account name = email, password = welcome1) or you created on your own. Please sign into your account and change your password, then verify your account info as well as your child's profile (birth date, phone number, address, etc.). You will be able to sign up online through the site beginning February 1st but can log on anytime.

Fundraiser:
We will also be using Andoro Pizza again this year (baa.andoropizza.com) for our fundraiser due to last years success. The site is live and you can order anytime. Remember to enter your child's name so that they get credit. Top seller will receive $300.00, 2nd place $150, 3rd, 4th, & 5th $25.00 gift cards. Any child who sells $200 or more in items will receive a refund of $25.00 toward their signup fees.

Fliers will be sent out to the schools early next week.

The Baa wants to thank all of our parents, participants, coaches and volunteers who help make our organization run so smoothly. As with any change we know that there will be some growing pains but we feel that this will be a positive change for our community and hope that everyone can give this a chance. We felt that this would be great opportunity to try something new and if ultimately the community disagrees we can always go back to CISL.

Thanks,
The BAA
